The region forms the central part of Sierra Morena and occupies the whole North of the county. These are smooth rounded hills, mostly occupied by open forest, mediterranean scrubland and large reservoirs.
This is one of the few places where the three biggest spanish eagles can be observed in close proximity: Spanish Imperial Eagle, Golden Eagle and Bonelli’s Eagle. The list of raptors can be completed, among others, with the Eurasian Black Vulture and Griffon Vulture and not all days with the Black-shouldered Kite and Egyptian Vulture.
Other interesting species are Black Stork (with a good nesting population), Iberian Chiffchaff and a great diversity of mediterranean passerines.
It is one of the few places in Spain where the Little Swift nests. In addition, you can also see the White-rumped Swift.
Some of the hotspots we will visit are Guditoca plains, Cerro del Hierro or Huéznar riverbank. This will depend on your preferences and the season of the year.
